Graduation – Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the ceremony last?

The graduation event begins at 10am and ends at 4pm, however, the ceremony itself will last for about an hour between 3pm – 4pm. We are holding a leadership and training seminar as part of this event and this will last 4 hours.

Will I collect my diploma certificate at my ceremony?

No. Certificates are given out throughout the year. If you have completed your programme and are still due to collect your certificate, please contact enquiries@scbm.org.uk or call +44(0)845 299 6254. We will be handing out certificates of completion at the end of the “Leadership and Influence” seminar.

Where can I pick up my gown and hat?

You can pick up your gown from Stratford Academy, Bridge street, Oakengates, Telford TF2 6AH at the following dates and times:

  • Wednessday 26th April 2017,10am – 4pm
  • Thursday 27th April 2017, 10am – 4pm
  • Friday 28th April 2017, 8am – 9.30am

Do I need to wear a gown on my graduation day?

Yes. All students attending must wear academic dress.

Is there a dress code for graduation?

Yes, students and guests should dress smartly for the day wearing suits, dresses or even national costume. We advise that you bring some safety pins and hair clips just in case you need them to secure your hood and mortar board.

If I have resits can I still attend my Graduation?

If you have already booked for Graduation and have resits to do, providing you have enough credits for a pass diploma you will be eligible to attend Graduation this year.

 What is the deadline for booking tickets?

The deadline is 21st April 2017. Tickets may still be available after this date but we can not guarantee availability.

Are fees paid for ticket, gown and hat hire and accommodation refundable?

All fees are non refundable, however we make an exception to refund 50% of any fees paid (in relation to the graduation) by visa-national students  who have been refused a visa. A visa refusal letter must be provided for a refund to apply and all refunds must be claimed on or before 14th April 2017.

I need a visa to come to the UK for my ceremony. What must I do?

To assist your visa application we supply a formal invitation on an Stratford Academy letterhead, this is issued automatically once you book your tickets or have paid a minimum of £150 deposit.

I would like to invite family members from overseas to my ceremony and they need visas, what can I do to help them?

If your guests need visas, the visa application form and country specific information is on the UK Visas and Immigration website. Email us at graduation2016@scbm.org.uk if you need more guidance.
